What We Do

Learning Centers are vital to reaching children

Child Development Nepal is not a humanitarian organization that meets only the physical needs of the child. We also provide for the educational, emotional and spiritual needs of the children in our Learning Centers.

Six days per week children receive a healthy nutritious meal, help with their studies, instruction and practice on good hygiene, and spiritual discipleship from a caring team of local Christians that includes teachers, cooks and helpers.

We provide clean filtered water and vault toilets for the children to use. Both are rare in remote Himalayan villages.

The change in the children is amazing and can be seen far beyond the walls of the Learning Centers.

Impacting Lives

Child Development Nepal is making a difference in the lives of so many.

Ranjan and his goats

Ranjan

Ranjan is 12 years old and in the seventh grade. His father recently passed away because of a serious accident.

Since joining the learning center Ranjan’s grades, health and hygiene have improved. He really enjoys the Bible stories told to him by his teachers, especially the miracles that Jesus did.

Child Development Nepal provided two goats to Rajan and his mother, who is blind, to help replace some of his father’s income.
Manisha

Manisha

Manisha is 13 years old and in the ninth grade. Her parents are uneducated and work in the fields to provide for their six children.

Even though Manisha’s Hindu parents had a negative view of Christianity, because of false rumors, they still allowed her to attend the learning center in her village. Before attending, Manisha was lazy in her schoolwork and very unclean.

Now she gets good marks in school and regularly takes baths, washes her hands and brushes her teeth. Her parents have a positive view of Christianity because of the changes they have seen in their daughter.

Akash

Akash

Akash is 12 years old and attends our learning center in Damgade. His parents are separated and he lives with his Aunt, while his siblings live with other relatives.

Akash appreciates the nutritious meal that he gets at the learning center. The instructors have helped him to improve his grades and he enjoys the extra-curricular activities.

Even though Akash has had a very difficult life, his hope is in Jesus Christ. He learned how to pray at the learning center and now prays for other students. Akash is a Christian.

Swostika Gurung

Sari

Sari was eight years old when the 2015 earthquake destroyed her home.

Sari lives with her family in rural Nepal, where she goes to the Child Development Nepal Learning Center every day. She is the top student in her class at school. Her family recently accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. They have also rebuilt their home.
Philip Tamang

Philip

Child Development Nepal created a Learning Center in Philip’s village shortly after the 2015 earthquake that left his family homeless.

Philip’s family of ten were Buddhist, but are now Christians. Philip plays guitar and leads worship for the younger kids at the Learning Center. His handwriting has improved thanks to the tutoring he has received there.
Susmita Tamang

Susmita

Susmita lives with her family of seven in Dhading, Nepal. Her parents are farmers.

Since Susmita began attending the Learning Center in her village, she has improved her reading skills, in both Nepali and English, and has learned about the importance of personal hygiene. She is thankful for the Child Development Nepal teachers.
Nepal Ministry Strategy

Transforming Communities

Experience has shown that if we can reach the children in a village, a transformative work will begin in the community. Families get to see firsthand the amazing change that is happening in their children. We literally are changing Nepal one child at a time.
